We at Sodick Co., Ltd. are thrilled to announce the launch of our latest innovation, the LSP4040 linear motor-driven femtosecond laser processing machine. Starting in November 2024, we will begin accepting orders for this cutting-edge precision microfabrication machine, designed specifically to handle challenging materials such as high-performance, high-hardness, and brittle substrates.
The development of the LSP4040 is based on more than a decade of fundamental research in femtosecond laser technology. This new machine complements our previously announced LSP5070, which is tailored for large-scale, high-precision applications. With both models, we aim to address the diversifying needs of our customers across various industries.
Femtosecond lasers are renowned for their ultra-short pulse widths, allowing for rapid irradiation that minimises thermal effects on the workpiece. This advanced technology reduces the risk of cracking and debris formation, making it suitable for a wide range of materials, including ceramics, optical glass, diamonds, and cemented carbide—essential components in modern manufacturing.
Key Features of the LSP4040 Include:
- Customised Laser Oscillator: We offer the flexibility for customers to specify their preferred laser manufacturer and tailor laser specifications, including IR, green, and UV three-wavelength lasers, high-power lasers, and high-frequency options.
- AI Path Optimisation Function: Our dedicated CAM software, "LS-F," enables the LSP4040 to derive the shortest machining path for complex shapes that exceed the scan field, significantly reducing processing time.
- Tornado-Type Dust Collection Nozzle: This innovative feature generates a tornado airflow around the processing point to effectively capture metal vapour produced during laser processing, enhancing processing quality.
- Suppression of Optical Axis Misalignment: To maintain precision amidst temperature fluctuations, the LSP4040 incorporates an enclosed cover with a precision air conditioning system that controls the internal temperature to within ±0.1°C.
- On-Board Measurement Function: Equipped with a CCD camera for precise workpiece positioning and a laser displacement sensor in the head section, the machine enables real-time shape measurement after processing.
At Sodick, we are committed to advancing laser processing technology and meeting the evolving demands of our customers. The introduction of the LSP4040 reaffirms our dedication to delivering innovative and high-quality manufacturing solutions.
